If you're new to Revid, you might wonder, "How do credits work, and how are they used?" Don't worry! This guide will break it down in simple terms, so you can understand how to make the most of your credits on Revid.

What are Credits in Revid?

Revid uses a credit system to give you access to various features. Each feature, like generating a video or creating an image, has a specific credit cost. This system helps keep things flexible: you only pay for what you use!
The best part: before you hit "Generate video", Revid always shows you the estimated cost of your render, so there are never surprises. Developers and AI agents can get the same estimate for free through the API (calculate-credits), the CLI, or the MCP server.
Let's take a look at how credits are used for different features on the platform.

1. Voice Generation

Do you want to add a voice to your videos? Here's how it works:
  • Cost: 10 credits for every 500 characters of text.
For example, if you have a 500-character script, it will cost 10 credits to generate a voiceover. If your script is longer, say 1,000 characters, it will cost 20 credits, and so on. This works the same across all 70+ supported languages.

2. Image Generation

Revid allows you to generate images to use in your videos or projects. The cost depends on the quality of the image model you choose.
Cost:
  • 1 credit per image with the "Low" model
  • 4 credits per image with the "Pro" model
  • 16 credits per image with the "Ultra" model
  • 8 credits to edit or restyle an existing image with AI
For instance, if you want 5 "Pro" images, it will cost you 20 credits (4 credits x 5 images). On the other hand, using the "Low" model for 5 images will only cost 5 credits.

3. Video Generation

This is the main feature that most users love. Each AI-generated clip covers roughly 5 seconds of your video, and the cost depends on the model:
Cost per clip:
  • 15 credits with the "Low" model
  • 60 credits with the "Pro" model
  • 200 credits with the "Ultra" model (Seedance 2.0 & Kling 3.0 at 720p)
  • 100 credits with "Veo3" (Google's cinematic model, with audio)
  • 130 credits with "Sora 2" (OpenAI's physics-accurate model)
  • 500 credits for Ultra at Seedance 1080p, or 1,000 credits at native 4K
Take note that a Revid project can contain many AI-generated clips (a 30-second video is about 8 scenes), and each one you generate costs credits depending on your model.
Motion graphics scenes are priced separately: 30 credits per scene with the Low director, 60 with the Pro director.

4. Talking Avatars and Face Swap

Want to make an avatar speak? Revid syncs lip movements with the script you provide, with three quality tiers.
  • Cost: 40 (Standard), 100 (Pro), or 200 (Ultra) credits for every 500 characters.
  • Removing the avatar's background costs an extra 20 credits per 500 characters.
  • Face Swap (motion transfer) on existing footage costs 200 credits per 5 seconds of video.

5. Music, Lyrics and Sound Effects

  • AI music generation: 20 credits per generated track (or pick from the 179+ built-in tracks for free).
  • AI lyrics generation: 16 credits.
  • Sound effects: 1 credit each.

6. Exports and Finishing Touches

  • Exporting at 720p or 1080p is free; 4K export costs 10 credits.
  • AI video upscaling costs 5 credits per second of upscaled footage.
  • Auto-reframe (turning a long video into vertical shorts) costs 10 credits.
  • Training a consistent character or a custom style preset costs 200 credits (one-time, then reusable across videos).

Broad Estimate Example: Creating a 30-Second Video

To give you a rough idea of credit usage, let's say you want to make a 30-second faceless video with AI moving images:
  • Voice Generation: a script around 500 characters costs 10 credits.
  • Visuals: a 30-second video has about 8 scenes. With "Pro" AI images that is 32 credits (4 credits x 8 images).
  • Sound effects: a few well-placed effects add 3-5 credits.
In total, this 30-second video costs roughly 45-50 credits, so a Growth plan covers about 40 videos like this per month. Switching the visuals to "Low" AI video clips brings it to about 130 credits, and premium models like Veo3 or Sora 2 cost more (100-130 credits per clip), which is worth it for hero content.

Revid's credit system is designed to offer flexibility based on what you need. Whether you're just generating images or putting together a full video with voice, avatars, and animations, you only use credits for the features you choose. Plan credits refresh every month, and Credit Boost packs stack on top whenever you need extra. This helps you manage your costs effectively, so you get the most value for your content creation.
Happy creating!
